IMBC and PROMTEL Explore Strategic India–Mexico Cooperation to Strengthen Digital Connectivity and Telecommunications Investment

Mexico City. — The India–Mexico Business Chamber (IMBC) held a high-level meeting with José Juan Bracamontes Zapién, Head of the Unidad de Promoción de Inversiones y Desarrollo (UPID) at Organismo Promotor de Inversiones en Telecomunicaciones (PROMTEL), together with members of his team from the Investment Promotion and Communications Networks directorates, to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the telecommunications and digital infrastructure sector.

The meeting focused on the potential to consolidate a strategic India–Mexico alliance aimed at reinforcing Mexico’s digital ecosystem, with particular emphasis on supporting and scaling small and regional telecommunications operators across the country. The dialogue aligns with PROMTEL’s mandate to promote investment, expand connectivity, and strengthen national digital infrastructure in a way that benefits communities and advances inclusive digital development.

Under the leadership of Mr. Bracamontes Zapién, PROMTEL has been advancing initiatives designed to encourage the participation of small operators, optimize network deployment, and support Mexico’s transition toward a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable digital development model. These priorities closely match IMBC’s objective of fostering structured collaboration between Indian and Mexican stakeholders in strategic sectors.

During the discussion, participants explored opportunities to:

  • Identify Indian and international investors interested in Mexico’s telecommunications and digital infrastructure landscape
  • Develop cooperation and capacity-building mechanisms for small and medium-sized operators, including training, technical assistance, and knowledge transfer
  • Promote alliances between Indian and Mexican companies to accelerate technology adoption and operational scalability
  • Advance investment projects related to private networks, mobile and fixed operator expansion, stable and resilient network infrastructure, and satellite systems
  • Strengthen connectivity solutions for underserved areas while ensuring long-term sustainability and regulatory alignment

India’s global experience in telecom technologies, large-scale network deployment, and digital services presents significant opportunities to support Mexico’s connectivity goals, while Mexico offers a dynamic market, strong institutional frameworks, and growing demand for advanced digital infrastructure.

IMBC reaffirmed its commitment to serve as a bridge between government institutions, investors, technology providers, and operators, facilitating dialogue and translating strategic discussions into concrete projects and partnerships.

Both parties expressed interest in continuing technical-level exchanges and exploring structured cooperation platforms that could lead to pilot initiatives, investment flows, and long-term collaboration in telecommunications and digital connectivity.
